Conference – Gathering

The gathering was attended by more than 300 participants from all over Latvia. At the first part of the conference participants were introduced both with the possibilities of development of LLU and LF, as well as with the challenges of agronomists, gardeners and zootechnicians in practical management. In the second part of the seminar participants were divided into groups of 10 to 15 people depending on the year of graduation from the University of Agriculture. Graduates from the Zooengineering Specialty, under the guidance of LF lecturer Elita Aplociņa, were introduced with faculty’s scientific and study work, as well as were informed about the activities in international projects. One such project is the ERASMUS + project Climate Change in Agriculture (CLICHA), in which teachers of Faculty of Agriculture and other Faculties will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from Greece, Italy and Tunisia in developing of study courses.

ENOAT Seminar

On 26-27 September 2018, the ENOAT (European Network of Organic Agriculture Teachers) seminar took place in the Czech Republic, University of Life Sciences in Prague. The seminar was attended by 24 teaching staff in organic agriculture from 11 countries. The participants presented the situation of the universities of the Member States in the context of the development and implementation of study courses and study programs in organic agriculture, as well as the integration of the topics of organic and environmentally-friendly agriculture into regular study courses. Various student teaching methods were presented. Also participants were introduced with on going projects in LUA, for example, Nord Plus project “Network for Rural water protection (2018 – 2019); Interreg project “Integrated Nitrogen Management System for the Gulf of Riga) – GURINIMAS(2017 – 2019); Bonus project “Mediating integrated actions for sustainable ecosystem services in a changing climate (MIRACLE)(2015 – 2018); ERASMUS+ project “Climate change in Agriculture (CLICHA)” (2017 – 2020) and etc.
